Take a break to meditate

Often viewed as an Eastern tradition or custom, meditation is gaining prominence as an enriching practice in the Western world. While meditation for many is a spiritual exercise with a specific form and structure, there is no specific way that it must be done to achieve results.

Walking in nature, having a quiet moment alone, or being in worship can generate a meditative state that results in both understanding and participation in more formal practices. In fact, whatever you do that has the effect of focusing and tuning in to the available energies is the act of meditation.

Basic meditation is the state of quieting the mind to produce stillness. When this occurs, intuitive information may be available, energies intensify, and calm is achieved. This is not something that you can actively do, but it is something that you allow to manifest.

The focus of meditation can be on the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual level. Focusing on the physical during meditation can help improve circulation, lower blood pressure, improve the immune system, and give you more control over your body, especially in the areas of pain management and healing. It is an especially valuable tool for anyone dealing with a long-term chronic health problem.

Focusing on emotions can generate calm, a greater understanding of relationships, and help build a stronger foundation for motivation. Focusing on the state of mind helps bring clarity, creativity, and conceptual skill development to the mind. On a spiritual level, meditation helps us connect with the Divine Source, puts us in closer contact with our higher self and opens new avenues of development.

Meditation can be practiced alone or with others. There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. When you meditate alone, you have plenty of time and you can go as deep as you want in a particular meditation. You are free to participate in the practice at a time that is convenient for you and you can create your own private space or sanctuary. By participating in solo meditation, you have no one but yourself to share experiences and learn with.

Meditation within a group setting can result in stronger mediations and more clarity due to the energy level elicited by the group. Provides a format for sharing experiences so members can gain insights from each other. The best solution would be to use both formats to further develop new possibilities and encourage growth and development. So if you haven’t already, why not take a break to meditate?
