How to avoid bad credit: throw away the credit card

Ask anyone with a credit card what their number one fear is and they’ll likely tell you… their biggest fear is ‘NOT’ having a credit card. I mean, they’re usually people who have giant credit card debt with interest accruing every month at a large percentage rate.

If you ask them if they want to be free of this fetter, be able to live at a level that doesn’t give them sleepless nights with pay stress, they are likely to say YES PLEASE, where do I sign? But if that journey started with them cutting up their most prized possession, the card, you would literally hear them choking on their saliva. You see, regardless of x amount of pounds they owe, the FEAR of not having this piece of plastic and access gives the funds far outweighs the mountain of debt it represents.

I know because I’ve been there. It is that fear of ‘not having enough’ of ‘coming short’ of ‘needing something’ that my card would buy that strikes fear in your heart. And that’s really what the system is based on. Money is distributed freely, the more you borrow, the more you spend. A vicious but very lucrative venture (for the lender), but a surefire way to lose everything for the borrower.

The question is how to overcome this FEAR? I’d love to say there’s a support circle you could attend that would help you quit cold turkey, or a medication you can take to medicate your problems, but there isn’t, it’s a bit like pulling plaster off a wound. for it to heal properly, the plaster must be removed; you have to expose it to air and allow the natural regeneration process to begin. Yes, I know it hurts, yes, I know it’s not comfortable, but what is the alternative?… You keep spending money you don’t have; you keep waking up in a cold sweat; she panics at the sight of a demand letter and almost faints every time there is a knock on the front door.

To begin the healing process, you must rip off the plaster…you must SCRATCH THE PLASTIC. There is a book I read once and the title has served me well on numerous occasions: Feel the fear and do it anyway. There has to come a time when YOU have to make the decision to ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ and move towards financial freedom.

WILL YOU MAKE the decision today to give yourself and your family the opportunity to develop the courage, willpower, and resilience to live a life free of debt?
