Ayurvedic ways to ensure thick hair

In Ayurveda, hair loss is attributed to an excess of pitta dosha and therefore, in general, the treatment strategy is aimed at reducing pitta dosha.

Pitta is increased by overindulgence in fried, oily, greasy, spicy, sour and acidic foods. Apart from these, tea, coffee, alcohol, meats and smoking can contribute to the increase in pitta.

For this, Bhringaraja (Eclipta alba) oil is the most common choice of medicated oil. Mahabringaraja taila and Nilibhringadi coconut oil is also considered a good choice. These are for external application. Apart from these Amalaki (Embelica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) and Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) is a best remedy for hair loss. They can be taken internally.

Bhringaraja (Eclipta alba) powder should also be administered orally. The form of administration is a teaspoon twice a day mixed with honey on an empty stomach.

If baldness appears in youth, Hasti danta mashi (elephant teeth) is very useful. These need to be mixed with honey and applied externally. This is usually done in the afternoon and allowed to dry. It should be noted that this can cause irritation and reddish discoloration of the skin at first, but with continued application, hair begins to grow.

Narasimha rasayan is especially indicated for hair loss. It also increases sexual potency in both sexes and increases semen volume in males. The most common oils used are Trichup Oil, Dhathri Hair Oil, Sesa Oil, Nutrich Oil and Neelibhringadi Coconut Oil.

In addition to medicines, a nutritious diet such as butter, ghee, milk and other protein-rich diets is highly recommended. Anxiety, sleepless nights, suppression of natural urges, overindulgence in sex, as well as fried foods should be avoided.
