Amazing recipes that are perfect for outdoor parties

Drinks are as important as food when it comes to parties. Your guests will be looking for something refreshing and delicious even after they finish eating. But when planning what kind of drink to serve, keep in mind that you need to cater for all kinds of guests, including children.

Here are 3 amazing non-alcoholic cooler recipes that are great for both indoor and outdoor parties:

Basil and melon granita

What do you need:

  • 1 medium melon, peeled, seeded and cut into 2-inch chunks
  • 2 large sprigs of fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Soda water

Combine the water, granulated sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and then lower the heat. Simmer (without stirring) for 3 to 4 minutes or until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and then add the basil sprigs before allowing to cool completely. When ready, to blend in a blender. Add the melon and blend until smooth. Strain into a square skillet, cover, and refrigerate until frozen, about 6 to 8 hours. When done, scrape large flakes out of the frozen mixture with a fork. Place the flakes in glasses, splash with sparkling water, and serve.

Pineapple Mint Surprise

What do you need:

  • 4 pieces of 2-inch fresh pineapple slices
  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup of iced sparkling water
  • 1/2 cup of cold grape juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of agave
  • Lime slices for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Place the pineapple in a bowl. Using the back of a wooden spatula, mash the fruit until it breaks into smaller pieces, working for about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the mint leaves to the bowl and then continue mixing until the leaves are bruised. Divide mixture among serving glasses. Place a few ice cubes and then in grape lime juice, sparkling water and agave. Mix gently and serve with lime wedges.

The blue lemonade

What do you need:

  • 3 cups of club soda
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup of water
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Bring the blueberries, water, sugar and lemon zest to a boil in a saucepan. Cook over low heat until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, strain and cool completely. When ready, mix in a pitcher followed by lemon juice, ice cubes, and club soda. Stir and serve immediately.
