3 tips for organizing a spectacular wedding on a low budget

Trying to plan a wedding on a budget can seem next to impossible these days. With bridal books exceeding 500 pages, you’re constantly under siege from advertisers trying to sell you something top of the line. The best dress, the most beautiful ring, the finest flowers, but who has that much money? With the average cost of a US wedding at nearly $20,000, perhaps it’s time for a little sanity.

There are ways to make sure your budget wedding is fun and memorable:

1. Don’t discount Las Vegas!

This is a great place to get married and can be very affordable. All the big hotels offer wedding packages from several hundred to several thousand dollars. By getting married out of town, you’ll also save a lot of money on food, drink, and paying for lodging for your guests.

2. Limit the number of guests.

There really is no reason a young couple should foot the bill for feeding 200 people. Instead of sending out invitations, send out announcements saying you’re getting married with an explanation that you’re having a small wedding to save money for a new house. Your non-guests will understand.

3. Buy early, buy smart.

You can save money every step of the way: on flowers, on your dress, on your rings, and on the venue if you shop ahead. Do not leave things for the last minute or you will pay the price. A wedding on a budget needs to be planned months in advance.
