1. Be in control:
The best thing about an entrepreneur is that he has absolute control of his life. He does not have to inform anyone. He can take a vacation any time he feels he needs it. He decides what can happen in his company. Best of all, no one can fire you. It’s amazing to be your own boss and create your own destiny.
2. Work becomes fun:
Now, most people who work 9 to 5 jobs are always exhausted at the end of the day and dread the morning of the next day. Especially after the weekends. Some call them “Monday Morning Blues”. Now, an entrepreneur works 24/7 and therefore puts all his energy into his work. By working so hard, he enjoys everything he does and so any endeavor he puts his effort into will eventually turn out to be a great success. Work is what one is required to do, while fun is what one is not required to do. (From Tom Sawyer-Mark Twain.) So now the equation is WORK=FUN.
3. Free from boredom:
Arthur Schopenhauer, the great German thinker and philosopher says that there are two kinds of misery. One is the misery of the working class, another is the boredom of the born rich, fashionable society.
Working Class Misery: Because these people are busy creating wealth for others, the only thing they crave from day to day is REST. They want to enjoy life to the limit but they can’t. They are limited by their work.
Misery of fashionable society: Now, these are the few individuals that most people want to become. It really is a wonderful thing to be rich and do all the things a typical “working class” person dreams of doing. Now let’s look at it from the celebrity perspective. Because these “filthy rich” people can do anything they want, they actually reach a state where nothing else gives them a “high.” Parties sound like fun and having physical pleasures is very tempting. Now imagine the same things over and over again in boring monotony. Then you get to a state of “boredom”, a state of absolute boredom. The other extreme towards which the “pendulum” of life swings, according to Schopenhauer. So, to stimulate their senses beyond the natural, the typical celebrity turns to drugs, which is only the beginning of complete destruction for them.
Now an entrepreneur, though he becomes really rich, is not in it chiefly to enjoy the pleasures of the rich. Getting to execute his ideas is what satisfies him. For a true entrepreneur, work is not a means to an end. It is an end in itself. The process is as rewarding to him as the end product. Because an entrepreneur is consumed by his desire to work hard, he doesn’t really have time to indulge in the trivia of everyday life. Now how can you get bored?
4. Better relationships with other people:
Because an entrepreneur is very busy, he will have very little time for others. Because of this, he will not get too familiar with others, which is the root cause of finding fault with others, resulting in mischievous gossip. He will only have contact with people of his own caliber, and usually this type of friendship lasts a lifetime.
For example, take George Washington Carver, the great American scientist. He was self taught and was the man behind peanut butter. It was he who discovered the secrets of nature by hundreds. He single handedly changed the course of many agriculture based industries through his hard work and dedication. And the more familiar Henry Ford. These two great men who worked hard all their lives, forged a great relationship and were there for each other until the end. Or take the case of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. Bill Gates thought that he had nothing in common with Warren Buffet, who was an investor. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted ten hours! Such is the power of those who work hard on their own sweet will!
5. Self Confidence:
Because an entrepreneur trusts himself more than anything else, he unlocks the Giant that is present within himself. Coupled with the tremendous effort involved in starting a business, an entrepreneur is sure to be successful. This success breeds more success which in turn instills greater self-belief. After all, who doesn’t want to be confident?
6. Give back to the Company:
It is truly a great privilege to have the opportunity to give back to society. Entrepreneurs create wealth and job opportunities for others. In this way, many lives are touched and changed for the better. By giving back to society, an entrepreneur experiences a sense of meaning and purpose in his life that others, simply accumulating wealth, will never feel. Money for a true entrepreneur is simply a tool and never an end in itself.
7. Necessity Free:
A passionate entrepreneur will have no desire for anything material because he has very little time for frivolity. Because he is completely immersed in his work, he is satisfied with the physical comforts that he already has.
8. Be original and true to yourself:
Most people do things to please others. They have no thoughts of their own. Instead, they live the life that others dream of for them. They want to please their children or friends or their parents and sincerely do what is expected of them. They live a double life all the time. Doing things they don’t want to do, talking things they don’t believe in just to get in line with others. As the saying goes, “No man is an island unto himself.” However, entrepreneurs are a rare breed. They do exactly what they want and say precisely what they believe. You can criticize them, show them their flaws or make fun of them, but the only thing you cannot do is influence them. Entrepreneurs are whole-souled beings who think their own thoughts and live their own lives. Therefore, they are not divided in their minds between their inner and outer life.
9. Enjoy time outside:
It is very likely that an entrepreneur enjoys every second of the time spent away from work. Events such as the cinema, trekking or simply chatting with friends become very special for the little time they have. They understand that they may not have the opportunity to engage in these activities often and therefore they enjoy every moment.
10. The euphoria of success:
Very few get to experience the sweet taste of success. An entrepreneur accepts challenges, works hard to overcome them, and when he wins, he savors the moment. Even when he fails at first, he does not bow his head or give up because he believes in the essence of what Theodore Roosevelt once quoted.
“It is not the critic who counts, nor the man who points out how the strong man stumbled or where the deed-maker could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is really in the arena, whose face is marred by dust. and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly, who knows great enthusiasms, great devotions, and dedicates himself to a worthy cause; who, at best, knows the triumph of great achievements; and who, in the At worst, if he fails, at least he fails while he dares much, so that his place will never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.” An Entrepreneur is, by his own innate constitution, prepared only for success.
