Proper Wording for a Baby Shower Invitation

Need a wording guide for your baby shower invitations? This article will help you include all the important information and how to write it correctly.

Don’t get caught up in the look of your invitation and forget about the most important thing: the information. This will avoid a lot of confusion and unnecessary emails and phone calls.

Well, I’m sure you know the basics to include the date, time, place, and of course who it’s for. Something that I have often seen omitted is where the mother is registered. If she isn’t registered anywhere, she could include a list of the items she needs and the colors or themes she uses in the nursery. Also, let guests know if she is having a boy or a girl.

Another thing that will save you a lot of communication with guests is to include a detailed map or print out directions. Don’t assume that everyone will know how to get there. Also, don’t ask guests to trust Map Quest or any other service like that. These services can sometimes be unreliable. I once attended a baby shower that almost no one attended. I found out later that many of the guests couldn’t find it because the instructions weren’t included.

Don’t forget to RSVP with your contact information. Consider including your email and cell phone number as well. This way, people will have the option to send a quick response via email. Plus, by including your cell phone number, guests will have a number to call in case they get lost.

Should you put “regrets only” instead of RSVP? It is a personal preference. Either way, there will be some people who say they’re coming and don’t show up and people who come and you didn’t expect them. You may also consider putting a date on which you would like guests to RSVP.

One last thing to consider is whether the baby shower will be “floating.” This just means that guests can drop by at any time during the shower.
