Kartika Plaza Beach Hotel – Balinese Royal Palace Hotel Design

Although it is the largest tourist hub in Tuban, Kartika Plaza Beach Hotel fits harmoniously into this laid-back community and offers its guests a full measure of Tuban convenience when it comes to airport access, shopping and many entertainment attractions.

The hotel’s spacious lobby was designed to reflect the style of the Balinese Palace. A majestic central chandelier is reflected in the polished marble floor below it. The carefully manicured grounds and gardens that stretch around the reception area give the impression that rajas, potentates and other royals would feel at home here.

Where would visiting royals choose to stay? The choice at Kartika Plaza Beach Hotel includes 304 ocean-view rooms, including two President Suites (each of the latter with its own pool). The hotel also has 82 Balinese-style bungalows. All units at Kartika Plaza Beach Hotel have private bathrooms, direct dial telephones, safes, private balconies, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel stretches 525 meters (600 yards) along the Kuta seafront.

Dining and drinking options include Rejang Restaurant (offering local and international cuisine and open 24 hours); Melati (for authentic Indonesian and Asian cuisine); Bamboo Garden (with a splendid Chinese menu); Segara (Italian specialties and ice cream); and Kakataua (the place to be for just grilled satays, salads, and sunset).

The Kul Kul bar on the pool deck offers swim-up service. The Sunset Lounge, overlooking the pool and surrounding garden, is ideal for head-to-head dancing, while the Bali Tavern Pub offers guests food, drink and live musical entertainment every night. Lively special theme nights feature cultural performances of Balinese dance and music at Rejang Terrace in the evening. The restaurant offers buffets with Rijstafel, Asian specialities, barbecues and Western cuisine.

For guests who like to do more than sunbathe at either of the hotel’s two pools, there is tennis on three lighted courts, squash on two air-conditioned courts, a mini golf course, a jogging track, a gym with all facilities center with spa, sauna and massages and a complete menu of water sports: windsurfing, skiing, sailing, paddle surfing, snorkeling and more. For the youngest, there are playgrounds, children’s pools and the hotel offers an extensive program of activities.

The hotel publishes its own monthly magazines filled with activities ranging from Balinese cooking lessons and dance classes to guided walks and bike tours of the surrounding villages to puppet shows and games of gamelan in celebration of Hindu holidays. It’s also one of the few hotels to offer its guests regular behind-the-scenes tours that explain the operations of an elaborate complex with all the facilities.

Inside the hotel’s gallery there are boutiques selling handicrafts and tropical fashion, a pharmacy, a bank, a beauty salon and a travel agency. Kartika Plaza Beach Hotel also houses convention facilities for groups of up to 1000 people. Courtesy shuttle buses take guests to Kuta and the airport.
