Deciding the right path to success

There are no set rules or textbooks available that can guide a young graduate to succeed in their corporate career. He simply needs to know what he really wants and has a strong determination to achieve his goal. Without it, it is unlikely that anyone can succeed, even if they are blessed with a lot of good luck along the way. Also, he needs to stay focused and constant on his quest and not get distracted no matter what.

Staying focused on your goal means that we are deliberately blurring everything that is taking you away from your goal. It is a disciplined lifestyle of choosing to view every struggle through the lens of a single-minded pursuit.

Focus on your goal, not on your problem. Listen to your heart, not your insecurities. Don’t focus on your opponents, instead focus on the possibilities. Understand the big picture and purposes. Take a break and celebrate every little success that comes your way. Reward yourself once you’ve completed a task and repeat the same with a bigger reward when you accomplish a bigger task in the future. Keep doing it and be persistent.

At the end of the day, one must also be pragmatic and, if necessary, adjust their goal according to the latest developments, trends and changes in the market. For example, it would be suicidal to pursue a career in film-based photography in light of the digital age and so on.

Many of Robert’s coworkers who thrive often don’t rely on job applications or headhunters, but rather on ex-colleagues and ex-bosses who are impressed with his abilities while they were together. You will be amazed at how quickly one can move up the corporate ladders avoiding the need to wait for the next long list of grades created on purpose to slow down any employee’s progress due to this “connection” built over the years.
