Dancing with the Stars: Results Show 5, Season 3

Another disappointment in dancing with the stars The results show last night. To everyone’s amazement, Willa Ford was eliminated. But in a show full of twist endings (probably a compliment from the producers), it’s not that surprising.

Willa Ford’s performance on Tuesday didn’t seem to be particularly standout this time around, and unlike Sara Evans, Willa doesn’t have the advantage of a huge fan base. It is still an injustice to see mediocre dancers Sara and Jerry return due to their enormous popularity, while better and hardworking dancers are kicked out week after week.

Instead of acting acting all surprised and shocked by the results, the judges would do better to ensure that a larger score gap is created between the good and bad dancers when the scores are handed out. It’s ridiculous to think that only three points separate the lifeless Sara Evans from the dance genius Mario López. If viewers are going to vote for the most popular contestants regardless of their dancing ability, we might as well make their task that much harder.

Despite this endless charade, I found some redemption in the fact that Monique Coleman made it to the next round without making the bottom two. Could it be that viewers are finally seeing how fantastic she is? Without a doubt, her rumba was steamy and impressive. She is the rising star of the pack.

As far as the results go, I’m starting to think that it’s just acting as a filler show to attract more viewers. There is absolutely nothing substantial about it. The exhibition dance pieces look more mediocre and amateurish every week. Guest singers and vocal groups often receive more attention than the dancers themselves. If I wanted to see pop vocal performances, I would have tuned in to VH1 or MTV. I don’t know about you, but I definitely smell like money-hungry producer hawks here.
