Chinese astrology: the use of the ten gods

By using the 10 gods, you have simplified many complex procedures. The ten gods not only help to determine the characteristic of the DM – Day Master in the natal chart, but also give an indication about the reading of the pillars of luck or the pillars of the decade.

The 10 gods are a bit difficult to handle at first. However, once you have fully understood the meanings of the 10 gods, you will have taken a giant leap into the world of Chinese astrology – the four pillars of destiny.

So what are the 10 gods?

The Chinese sages used the ten gods to simplify the relationship between the Wu Xing or the five elements. Just to remind you that each element has Yin and Yang. Yin wood is Yi and Yang wood is Jia. Yin Fire is Ding and Yang Fire is Bing and so on.

The Ten Gods are also known as Variable Stars. The Ten Gods are like the variables of computer programming. They store different types of information about the Four Pillars or the natal Bazi Chart. The Ten Gods are also variable among the Five Elements.

The following shows the way:

In Wu Xing’s theory,

Water improves wood,

The wood enhances the fire,

The fire enhances the earth,

The earth improves the metal,

Metal improves water

From the above, a special term is given to any of the five items that enhance another item. It’s called RESOURCE.

The water enhances the wood. Water is the resource of wood.

On the other hand, water is used by wood. Wood drains Water. As a result, a special term is given to wood from the point of view of water. It’s called a Wounded Officer or Devouring God. An easy way to remember is that an Item is being consumed!

Wood helps wood

Water helps Water

Fire help Fire

Earth helps Earth

Metal helps Metal.

In such a helping situation, it is called self-element or sibling-element help. The Yin element helps the Yin element or the Yang element to help the Yang element, it is called self-element help.

Wood controls the Earth

The land controls the water

Water controls fire

Metal fire controls

Wood metal controls.

One element controls another element, Say Wood controls the Earth, Wood is the Power of the Earth. In Ten Gods it is called Officer or 7 Kills.

On the opposite side, the Earth is conquered by the Forest. Land is the asset of wood. In Ten Gods, the name is Direct Wealth or Indirect Wealth.
