Robins Air Force Base – Warner Robins Georgia

Created for the active military stationed here in the middle of Georgia, and specifically for the military relocating to Robins AFB, I hope you find a nugget in the information below. Having been a “veteran” of 7 PCS moves, 20+ local moves, base homes, and a couple of DITYs, I fully understand the anticipation and fear that come with showing up at your “next duty station.”

Warner Robins Georgia is home to Robins Air Force Base, the largest industrial complex in the state and one of the three largest Department of Defense repair facilities in the nation. The base employs more than 27,000 civilian workers, contractors, military members, and unearmarked fund employees.

Robins AFB it was originally an Army Air Corps repair facility called Wellston Air Depot at Robins Field. Wellston city / base was eventually renamed in honor of Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, considered the “father of logistics”.

Located at Robins Air Force is the Warner Robins – Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC), the Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) and the Georgia Air National Guard (Air Control Wing). The WR-ALC is one of only three Air Force ALCs in the US.

Tea WR-ALC is the Air Force Air Transport Center of Excellence, providing sustainment management for C-5, C-17, C-130 and C-141 aircraft. Warner Robins ALC also handles sustainment functions for various combat systems such as the F-15, Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), Special Operations Systems, U-2, and Support Vehicles and Equipment.

HQ AFRC It is the operational headquarters for all units of the Air Force Reserve. AFRC provides combat readiness, logistical support, and training for all Air Force Reserve units and personnel. AFRC also provides many specialized functions including aerial spraying, aeromedical evacuation, anti-drug missions, wildfire suppression, and meteorological reconnaissance. AFRC has nearly 450 aircraft and performs more than 30% of the Air Force’s daily missions.

Tea Georgia ANGs Air Control Wing It is the first wing of Total Force consisting of Air Force, Army, ANG personnel, civilian personnel, and contractors. They fly, maintain and manage 24/7 command, control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance through the E-8C JSTARS program.
