Planning an event in Los Angeles: how to find the best location

Planning a corporate event in Los Angeles is no easy task. One of the first items on your to-do list is finding and securing a meeting space that suits your event needs. Many event planners try to choose hotels near LAX airport to host events because it makes travel easier for attendees.

You will need to select a location that has a good and convenient transportation system and choose an area that offers additional activities of interest to those who are scheduled to attend the event. So whether it’s a milestone celebration or a large-scale corporate event, you’ll need to focus all your attention on the details to make your event a success.

Location is the main decision

Most event planners will want the event to be a memorable and positive experience for attendees, and selecting the right location is key to making this happen. Although there are many hotels near LAX airport, you probably don’t want to be sitting in a conference room and listening to the noise of planes landing and taking off. An alternative is to select a location that is close to the LAX airport but far enough away to have a friendly atmosphere, such as one of the many Marina Del Rey hotels, which are just four miles from LAX.

choose your hotel

An event manager is on staff at most of the larger hotels near LAX airport, as well as several of the Marian Del Rey hotels. This person will be your point of contact to execute your event plan and help make it a success. Being local, they will have an insider’s view of the activities your attendees can engage in when they are not involved in your planned corporate events. It is these additional nearby activities that will help make for a memorable experience. If you’ve selected one of the Marina Del Rey hotels, you’re in luck as there’s plenty to do nearby. Some things are:

  • Enjoy the largest small boat harbor on California’s west coast with a narrated harbor tour.
  • Listen to one of the free concerts held at Burton Chace Park. Whether it’s pop or classical performances, you can bring a blanket or a low folding chair and enjoy a picnic dinner.
  • The late tobacco magnate, Abbot Kinney, created a community that was inspired by the city of Venice, complete with canals. This turn-of-the-century neighborhood still maintains this network of canals and is a sight to behold.
  • Park your car on the weekend and for just $1.00 per person (one way) you can hop on to one of seven boarding stops and enjoy a ride on the WaterBus for a truly unique view of the harbor.
  • On weekends it offers free bus passes or rent a bike and take a leisurely ride around town.
  • Walk along Kinney Boulevard, the center of Venice’s creative community. There are great cafes, galleries, and chic boutiques near all Marina Del Rey hotels.

Experience is the key to success

If this is your first time planning a corporate event, you won’t have experience on your side. If this is the case, partner with someone who does, such as a professional event planning company or the event co-coordinator of one of the Marina Del Rey hotels or any of the hotels near LAX airport. They will help ensure your success and help you step by step along the way.
